Arthur Tipping Linforth was born in Nottingham, England, on 21 April 1888. A Farmer by occupation and a member of the 101st Edmonton Fusiliers (Militia), he attested for overseas service at Edmonton in January 1916. Proceeding to England with the 51st Battalion, he transferred to the 52nd Battalion in France. Initially reported as wounded and missing in action, he was later listed as killed in action on 16 September 1916 during the battle of Courcelette. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Vimy Memorial. He was the younger son of Mr. J. H. Linforth of Leatherhead, England; sold with copied service and other papers.
