Colin Alexander Bannerman was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, on 6 May 1901. A Labourer by occupation, he enlisted into the 32nd Battalion in February 1915, giving his date of birth as 6 May 1896. Sent overseas, he served with the 3rd Canadian Tunnelling Company, and his true age not discovered until June 1918, when he was swiftly transferred to the Young Soldiers Battalion in Seaford, England, and then discharged at Regina in January 1919.

With the renewal of hostilities, Bannerman, then a Farmer, re-enlisted in the South Alberta Regiment in Edmonton in June 1940 and, after several postings within Canada, he was discharged in February 1942 as being ‘unable to meet the required physical standards’. He died of cholecystitis on 8 April 1942 and was buried in the Edmonton Cemetery; sold with copied service papers.
