Pair: Sergeant John Hamilton, 91st Foot

Military General Service 1793-1814, 4 clasps, Pyrenees, Nive, Orthes, Toulouse (John Hamilton, 91st Foot.); Waterloo 1815 (Serj. John Hamilton, 1st Batt. 91st Reg. Foot.) fitted with replacement silver clip and small ring suspension, edge bruising and contact marks, otherwise nearly very fine (2) £2800-3200

Mullens’ roll does not confirm clasp for Nive but the medal has always been catalogued with four clasps.

John Hamilton was born in the Parish of Beith, Ayrshire, and enlisted into the 91st Foot on 9 March 1794. He served 4 years 4 months as a Private, 2 years 5 months as a Corporal, and his final 15 years and 6 months of service in the rank of Sergeant. He was discharged, worn out, on 18 June 1816, with a total service of 24 years 3 months, including 2 years for Waterloo.
