Pair: Private W. W. Stanger, 48th, late 11th Battalion Australian Imperial Forces, who died/was killed on 18 September 1918

1914-15 Star (1178 Pte., 11/Bn. A.I.F.); Victory Medal 1914-19 (1178 Pte., 48-Bn. A.I.F.); Memorial Plaque (Walter Wright Stanger); together with a British War Medal 1914-20 (2631 Spr. J. Stranger, R.E.) note spelling of surname; Victory Medal 1914-19 (2084 Pte. W. Latcham, 30 Bn. A.I.F.) last with correction to initial; with Fifth Light Horse A.I.F. cap badge, nearly very fine and better (6) £120-160

Private Walter Wright Stanger, 48th Battalion A.I.F. was killed/died on 18 September 1918, aged 23 years. He was buried in the Jeancourt Communal Cemetery Extension. Born in Pelton Fell; he was the son of George and Elizabeth Stanger, of 9 Renwick Terrace, Great Lumley, Fence Houses, Co. Durham. The medal to ‘Stranger’ is believed to have been awarded to his brother but with the surname mis-spelt.
