Sergeant Robert McCondach, R.A.F. was killed in action on 14 October 1918, when his Bristol Fighter of No. 11 Squadron was shot down while on reconnaissance. His Observer, Lieutenant C. E. Wainwright, R.A.F. later died of his wounds. McCondach was buried in the Vadencourt British Cemetery, Maissemy, Aisne, France. He was the son of Helen McCondach, of Queen’s Lodge, Inchmarlo, Banchory, Kincardineshire, and the late Hugh McCondach.
With a copied article, NCO Pilots in the RFC/RAF during WWI, by Jeff Jefford. In it he identifies 55 N.C.O. pilots involved in a trial during late 1918 - seven were killed in action, McCondach, the only one from 11 Squadron killed.
