Donald Frank James Barry Purcell was born on 22 March 1919. A Clerk by occupation, living at 3 Crescent Road, Wellington, Shropshire, he enlisted into the Army on 15 November 1939 and served in the K.S.L.I. He served for a time in the Mortar Platoon of ‘S’ Company K.S.L.I. After the war as a Sergeant in the regiment he served in Palestine; leaving the Army in June 1946. With original Soldier’s Service and Pay Book; Soldier’s Release Book; Military Training Act Grading Card; Record of Service Card; forwarding box for the WW2 medals addressed to ‘Mr D. F. J. B. Purcell, 19 St. Chad’s Close, Wellington, Telford - Salop TF1 3EP’; slip to accompany the medals; and named card box of issue for the G.S.M. Also with two pairs of gilt and enamel regimental cufflinks, in case; 25 badges, mostly metal; six group photographs; six cards/papers; athletic meeting booklet.
Lilian Joan Purcell was born on 30 September 1923. Enlisted into the A.T.S. on 24 July 1941. With original Soldier’s Service and Pay Book; A.T.S. and V.A.D. Release Book.
