Stoker Coulburn is listed as serving aboard H.M.S. Haslemere, a mercantile vessel hired as a Barrage Balloon Vessel on the formation of the C.M.B.B. section in July 1940. She was based at Sheerness and operated in the Western Approaches and in the English Channel, providing much needed cover for shipping from enemy air attack. Approximately 18 D.S.Ms. were awarded to this short-lived section which was disbanded in 1943.
