Naval General Service 1793-1840, 1 clasp, Gaieta 24 July 1815 (John Welch) minor edge bruising, otherwise very fine £800-1000

Ex Sotheby January 1898, and Glendining June 1993, named ‘Welch’ in both cases.

John Welsh (sic) is confirmed on both the Admiralty and Greenwich Hospital rolls as an Ordinary Seaman aboard H.M.S.
Berwick at the reduction of Gaieta, for which 88 clasps were issued. Six other men with these names, either Welsh or Welch, are shown on the roll for various clasps.
