The Order of the Indian Empire, C.I.E., 3rd type neck badge, gold and enamels, in its Garrard & Co case of issue; The Order of the British Empire, C.B.E. (Military) 2nd type neck badge in its Garrard & Co case of issue; 1914-15 Star (Supdt. of Police, C.I.D. Peshwar); British War and Victory Medals (Police Dept.); India General Service 1908-35, 1 clasp, Afghanistan N.W.F. 1919 (Police Dept.) official correction to initial on this; Jubilee 1935; Coronation 1937, the last six on original Court style mounting from which the O.B.E. has been removed due to his promotion in the Order, generally good very fine or better (8) £500-600

John Hunter Adam was born on 1 June 1882 and educated in Glasgow. He joined the Indian Police Service on 22 November 1902 and was appointed Superintendent, N.W. Frontier Province, in November 1912; Assistant to the Inspector General of Police, N.W. Frontier Province, November 1914; on special duty in charge of Intelligence Bureau at Peshawar, December 1919; Inspector General of Police, North West Frontier Province 1930-35; Lieutenant-Colonel, General Staff, 1939; Colonel, 1943; retired 1945. Appointed O.B.E. in 1918; C.B.E. 1946; C.I.E. 1933. Colonel Adam died on 9 July 1958.
