India General Service 1854-95, 2 clasps, North West Frontier, Burma 1885-7 (Lieut. Boyce Edward Gowan, 4th Sikh Inf.) nearly extremely fine £150-200

Colonel Boyce Edward Gowan’s war services included, North West Frontier of India 1863-64, with the Doaba Field Force against the Mohmands, Fort Michni, Peshawar, affair near Shubkudder, December 1863 to January 1864. (Medal with clasp). Took part in the Dewar Valley Expedition 1872, where he served as officiating officer, second in command of the 4th Sikhs.

During the second Afghan War he served as a Wing Commander, 4th Sikhs during the Waziri disturbances on the Tank border 1878-79. Commanded troops in the Gumal Valley at the attack on the Suleiman Kheyl Village on 5 January 1879, where his horse was killed. (Mentioned in Brigadier General Godbey’s Despatch and thanked by the Punjab Government). Commandant, 26th Regiment Bengal Native Infantry, serving with the 2nd Brigade, Burma Field Force 1885-87 (2nd clasp to I.G.S.). Commandant 4th Sikh Infantry, 11 May 1887; retired 10 June 1889; died 3 March 1892.
