Military General Service 1793-1814, 6 clasps, Vittoria, Pyrenees, Nivelle, Nive, Orthes, Toulouse (James Callum, 71st Foot); Waterloo 1815 (James Calleem, 1st Batt. 71st Reg. Foot) fitted with original steel clip and ring suspension, the last with two small edge bruises and both with very light contact marks, otherwise good very fine (2) £1200-1500
Private James Callum served in Captain J. F. Pidgeon’s Company at Waterloo. These medals appeared on the London market in 1912 with his original discharge papers and an obituary from a Scottish newspaper. He is supposed to have been taken prisoner in the Peninsula and fought in eighteen battles without a scar.
