The highland clan McLeod is synonymous with with the history and traditions of piping. The clan was represented in the Mutiny by Pipers Angus and William McLeod of the 42nd, James McLeod of the 79th, Hugh McLeod of the 92nd, and Pipe-Major John McLeod of the 93rd Highlanders, the last who famously played the pipes atop the ramparts of the Secunderabagh at the final relief of Lucknow.
