James Alexander Tulloch was born on 15 December 1931, educated at Marlborough College, and was commissioned from R.M.A. Sandhurst in August 1952. He was seconded to the 4th Battalion, King’s African Rifles, from February 1954 to mid-1957, and retired through disability in September of that year.
