A ‘Sidi Rezegh’ M.M. group of four awarded to Sergeant F. A. Huggett, 5th Royal Tank Regiment

Military Medal, G.VI.R. (7889194 Sjt., R. Tank R.); 1939-45 Star; Africa Star; War Medal, very fine or better (4) £400-500

M.M. London Gazette 3 March 1942.

“On 22 Nov 41, at Sidi Rezegh, Sgt Huggett displayed conspicuous bravery throughout a difficult opeartion. During the day he cured a petrol stoppage under very heavy fire and returned to his Squadron, fighting his tank throughout the remainder of the action. Throughout the operation he has set an excellent example to the men of the battalion. I consider that his personal bravery under conditions of great danger is worthy of an immediate award.”

Originally recommended for a Distinguished Conduct Medal. He was subsequently captured and interned at Stalag 18A at Wolfsberg (Karnten), Germany. Sold with further research and his original Army Certificate of Education (First Class), dated March 1956.
