Ex Glendining February 1925 and Christies November 1985, with Nassau clasp only.
Two men of this name are borne on the muster roll of H.M.S. Nassau for this action, an Able Seaman and an Ordinary Seaman. The Ordinary Seaman, born at Hendon, ran from leave at Chatham in October 1809. The recipient of this medal was the Able Seaman, an American who was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and joined the Navy in June 1796. He was present at Copenhagen in 1801, aboard the Edgar, and is confirmed on the rolls for this additional clasp which has been expertly added to the medal. A further four men with these names are shown on the rolls for various other clasps. Approximately 31 clasps issued for Nassau 1808. Sold with a large quantity of further research including copies from ship’s books and musters.
