Punniar Star 1843 (Ensign D. Stewart, H.M. 3rd Regt.) fitted with original hook suspension but with small silver ring fixed to the reverse of the top point, good very fine £350-400
At Punniar, the action was opened by H.M.’s 3rd Regiment and a company of Sappers and Miners, who “attacked the enemy’s centre, exposed to a galling fire from their guns, but most gallantly carried every position before them, drove the enemy from height to height, and captured 11 of his guns and the standard.”
David Stewart was appointed Ensign in The Buffs on 7 November 1842 and left the Army before 1846.
