Harry Matthews was born in Tilshead, Wiltshire, lived at Andover and enlisted at Devizes. Serving in the 1st Battalion Wiltshire Regiment, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 17 November 1914. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. His name is also commemorated on the Tilshead Parish Memorial. With copied casualty details.
