Peter and Patrick Tierney are believed to be brothers.

Patrick Tierney was born in Bermuda. He attested for the 39th Regiment on 15 May 1875, aged 14 years. With the 39th/Dorset Regiment he served in the East Indies, May 1875-March 1882; Mediterranean, September-October 1882 and March-December 1885; Egypt, December 1885-August 1886; Malta, March 1897-January 1899. The L.S. & G.C. Medal was the only medal he received, being recommended for it on 1 July 1893. He was discharged as a Sergeant Drummer at Malta on 23 January 1899. With copied service papers.
