Edward J. Welby, who was born in 1899, enlisted in the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry in 1917, and saw action in the closing battles of the War. Demobilised in late 1919, he found employment as a fish merchant in Grimsby but succumbed to T.B. in January 1920; sold with an original portrait photograph, in uniform.
