Born Kenneth Leon Bell Nowakowski in Hammersmith in 1918, he served during the war using the surname ‘Bell’ before officially changing his surname to Bell in 1950 (London Gazette 24 February 1950). At this time he was employed as a Commercial Agent, living at 88 Denning Avenue, Waddon, Croydon, Surrey.
As a Cadet from the O.C.T.U. he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the South Staffordshire Regiment in August 1941 (London Gazette 2 September 1941) and was promoted to a War Substantive Lieutenant in October 1942. Awarded the Efficiency Medal in 1950 (London Gazette 13 June 1950). Bell died in Southend, Essex in 1999.
