Simón Bolívar (24 July 1783-17 December 1830), together with José de San Martín, played a key roll in Latin America’s struggle for independence from Spain. Revered as a National Hero in several South American countries. He was President of Venezuela, 6 August 1813-7 July 1814 and 15 February 1819-17 December 1819; President of Colombia, 17 December 1819-4 May 1830; President of Bolivia, 12 August 1825-29 December 1825, and President of Peru, 17 February 1824-28 January 1827.
