William Thomas Hedges was born in St. Pancras, London. A Packer by occupation, he attested for the Royal Artillery at London on 20 April 1897, aged 19 years, 8 months. Served with the 83rd Battery R.F.A. in South Africa, January-July 1900, being invalided home. At ‘Home’ he suffered a wound to his finger whilst on duty, 12 November 1898 and a contusion of knee and face whilst on duty, 7 April 1902. Transferred to the Army Reserve in April 1904 and discharged having completed his service on 10 April 1909. With copied service papers and roll extract.
