Jeremiah Mourn was born in Stone, Dartford, Kent. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for the Royal Artillery at Gravesend on 15 January 1889, aged 18 years. With the 86th Battery R.F.A. he served in South Africa, January 1900-January 1902, being discharged in January 1902. His application to re-enlist in March 1902 was declined because of his character. With copied service paper and roll extract. Additionally awarded the clasp, ‘South Africa 1901’.
