Five: Staff Sergeant K. Privett, Glider Pilot Regiment and Royal Artillery, a prisoner-of-war of the Germans

Keith Privett joined the Royal Artillery on 6 February 1939. He acknowledged receipt of a Territorial Army Badge No. 91073 at Portsmouth on 13 April 1939 as a member of the 213rd A.A. Battery R.A.(T). This unit, 213rd (Hampshire) Battery and 214th (Hampshire) Battery were H.Q. of 57th (Wessex) A.A. Brigade, R.A.(T.A.), based at Southsea. Privett served with the R.A. until June 1942. On 16 June he was transferred to the Glider Pilot Regiment and remained with them until February 1946, qualifying for both the Italy and France and Germany Stars. His possible service may have included both the Normandy landings and Arnhem. As a Serjeant in the Army Air Corps he is listed as a prisoner-of-war of the Germans (P.O.W. No. 117500), being held at Stalag 11B at Fallingbostel. After the war he returned to service with the R.A., February-June 1946.
