M.B.E. London Gazette 13 September 1945:
‘For gallant and distinguished service in Italy.’
Dawson James Franklyn Burgoyne was born in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia in March 1909 and enlisted in the Nova Scotia Regiment. Commissioned in September 1931, he was was embarked for England as a Major in December 1939 and went on to witness active service in Italy, latterly in the acting rank of Lieutenant-Colonel (M.B.E.); sold with copied service record that also reveals his entitlement to the Efficiency Decoration.
