George Victor Parrett was born in Salisbury, Wiltshire on 28 September 1893. A Dairyman by occupation, he enlisted into the Royal Navy as a Stoker 2nd Class on 13 October 1911. Serving on H.M.S. Espiegle, December 1912-April 1916, he was advanced to Stoker 1st Class in January 1913 and earned the N.G.S. with clasp for Persian Gulf. After Espeigle he served variously at/on Victory, Vernon, Cormorant until the end of the war. He retired from the Navy in October 1923 and later joined the R.F.R. With copied service paper.
