Louis Pieter H. Botha, a nephew of General P. W. Botha and brother of Commandant Manie Botha, served as a Commandant in the Vrede and Harrismith Commandos. He distinguished himself in the action fought near Holspruit in February 1902, storming and capturing several British strong points and was awarded the Dekoratie voor Trouwe Dienst (D.T.D.) and wound riband. He was subsequently a signatory of the treaty signed at Vereeniging on 12 May 1902, representing delegates on behalf of the Orange Free State; sold with brief copied research.
