William Allen was born in Oakhampton, Devon in 1855. Enlisted on the island of Alderney, 17 October 1870, aged 15 years. Awarded the L.S. & G.C. with a gratuity in July 1888. Served in Malta and Gibraltar. The above was his only medallic award.
