CHINA 1842 (Alexander Jolly, 26th Regiment Foot) edge bruise, otherwise very fine

Alexander Jolly was born near Arbroath in the county of Forfar and was by trade a weaver when he enlisted for the Cameronians at Dundee on 11th February, 1826. He was twice tried by Regimental Court Martial and on each occasion sentenced to 20 days imprisonment. Whilst serving in China he was tried by a District Court Martial at Koo Ling Soo on 13th September, 1841 and sentenced to a Corporal Punishment of 150 lashes. He was discharged, unfit, at Dublin on 21st June, 1847.
