INDIAN MUTINY 1857-9, 1 clasp, Defence of Lucknow (J. Collins, 90th Lt. Infy.) small edge knock, otherwise very fine

Job Collins, a labourer ftom Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, enlisted for the 90th Light Infantry on 11th December, 1843 at the age of 17 years. His service history over the next 15 years is a veritable catalogue of desertion, Courts Martial and imprisonment. He was twice sentenced to undergo Corporal Punishment, in 1854, of 50 lashes with 25 remitted, and again in 1855, of 35 lashes. He was finally discharged on 20th July, 1858, in consequence of the results of a gun-shot wound of his left leg with partial fracture of the tibia.
