MILITARY GENERAL SERVICE 1793-1814, 1 clasp, Roleia (Samuel Nicholls, Lieut., 9th Foot.) good very fine and extremely rare as a single clasp, especially to an officer

A total of only 11 single clasps were issued for Roleia. Lieutenant Nicholls was present in the desperate fighting encountered by the 9th Foot, supporting the 29th Foot under Lt. Col. Hon. G.A.F. Lake who was killed. Nicholls subsequently transferred to the 60th Rifles but saw no further active service.
