MILITARY GENERAL SERVICE 1793-1814, 1 clasp, Vittoria (A. Nicholson, Lieut., 2nd Life Gds.) very minor edge nicks, otherwise extremely fine

This officer was the son of Thomas Mclnnes of Edinburgh, by Jane Nicholson, sister to Lt. General Robert Nicholson who distinguished himself at the siege of Baroach in the East Indies. Cornet Alexander Mclnnes fought with the 2nd Life Guards at the battle of Vittoria in 1813, and at Waterloo in 1815. He assumed the name and arms of Nicholson by Royal Licence in 1821, and died 9th February, 1862, aged 82 years. Ex. Payne collection. Only 7 medals to officers in the 2nd Life Guards.
