NAVAL GENERAL SERVICE 1793-1840, 1 clasp, Amazon 13th March 1806 (John Howe) light contact marks and edge bruises otherwise very fine
Approximately 30 clasps issued for the capture of the French ship Belle Poule, by the Amazon, off Brest. A separate clasp was issued for the capture of the Marango, by the London, at the same time. The two French ships were under the command of Admiral Linois who was returning from the East Indies.John Howe is shown on the roll of the Amazon as an Ordinary Seaman. Three men of this name are also shown on the Syria roll.
