A Great War pair to Second Lieutenant S.H. Field, South Lancashire Regiment

BRITISH WAR AND VICTORY MEDALS (2.Lieut.) nearly extremely fine (2)

Samuel Hatten Field was killed in action on 31 July 1917, leading his platoon in action. He was educated at Uppingham School and Clare College, Cambridge, leaving there in December 1915. He was serving with the 4th battalion at the time of his death. Sold with 3 pages of battalion War Diary extracts for the action in which Lt. Field is mentioned as being killed.
