Extract from Dictionary of Disasters at Sea. 'The Destroyer Firedrake, Cdr. E.H. Tilden, D.S.C., was torpedoed and sunk by a German submarine in the North Atlantic on December 16th, 1942. Cdr. Tilden, six officers and 164 ratings were killed.'
