Ben Charles Wilson, 4th Baron Nunburnholme was born on 16 July 1928, son of the 3rd Baron and Lady Mary Thynne, youngest daughter of the 5th Marquess of Bath, K.G., P.C., C.B. He was educated at Eton and joined the Royal Horse Guards in May 1949, and served with the regiment in Cyprus 1956-59. He retired in 1969 and succeeded to the title on the death of his father in 1974.
