Defence of Rorkes Drift 1879, a contemporary photograph of ‘Five Defenders of Rorkes Drift 22-23 January 1879, who appeared in the Northern Command Tattoo at Gateshead in 1934’ - Sgt. Saxty, Pte. Woods, L.Col. Bourne, Pte. Jobbings and Pte. Cooper; together with a post card photograph of Lt-Col. Bourne, and an interseting original letter from Bourne, dated 14th April, 1939, addressed to “Dear Benfield”, enclosing the Gateshead photograph and listing the last seven survivors of the Defence, a scarce and interesting lot
