Three: General Henry Nicoll, C.B., Bengal Army
Punniar star 1843 (Lieutt., 50th Regtt. Native Infy.); Punjab 1848-49, no clasp (Lieutt., 50th Native Infy.) officially engraved in fine running script, these two are probably official replacements for the original medals lost in the Mutiny; Indian Mutiny 1857-58, 1 clasp, Delhi (Bt.Majr., Majr. of Brigde.) surname spelt Nicall on this, the first two fitted with swivel-ring suspenders, nearly very fine or better (3)

General Nicoll served during the disturbances in the Saugor and Bundlecund districts in 1842-43. The Gwalior campaign of 1843-44 including the battle of Punniar (Bronze star). The Punjab campaign of 1848-49 (Medal). The Sonthal campaign of 1855-56. Served as Brigade Major at the battle of Budlee ke Serai on the 8th June 1857, storming the heights before Delhi, throughout the siege, assault and final capture of the city (Mentioned in despatches, medal with clasp, Brevet of Major). Promoted to General in January 1889, Nicoll died at Lidlington Vicarage, Bedfordshire, on 5 February 1907. He was awarded the C.B. posthumously in the London Gazette of 28 June 1907, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of military operations in India, 1857.
