1939-45 Star; France and Germany Star; War Medal; Naval General Service 1915-62, 2 clasps, Yangtze 1949, Malaya (D/MX.510381, Jnr. 3., R.N.) good very fine (4)

Sold with various trade badges and buttons, a Bosun’s whistle, an original photograph of the recipient with P.O. Leslie Frank, D.S.M., and a news cutting which states:
‘AMETHYST P.O. IS HOME - Back home is Petty Officer P. C. Heighway, joiner aboard the Amethyst. P.O. Heighway has served two years in the frigate and was among those detailed to take the overland route to Shanghai when she lay beleaguered on the Yangtze. From Shanghai he was taken to Hong Kong to prepare for the arrival of the Amethyst. He assisted in the refit and returned in the ship to Plymouth.’
