A Great War M.C. group of eight awarded to Major J. L. Reid, Yorkshire Regiment, attached Machine Gun Corps
Military Cross, G.V.R.; 1914-15 Star (Lieut., York R.); British War and Victory Medals, M.I.D. (Major); War Medal; Africa Service Medal, name erased; Belgium, Order of the Crown, 4th class breast badge, gilt and enamels, obverse centre chipped; Croix de Guerre, with bronze palm, together with companion set of miniature medals, both sets mounted for wearing, generally good very fine (16)

M.C. London Gazette 10 December, 1919: Capt. (A./Maj.) John Leonard Reid, 4th Bn., York. R., attd. 104th Bn., M.G.C. ‘During 10th to 14th October, 1918, at Kanterhoek, his cool courage on ground under heavy fire enabled him to arrange and supervise a most successful battery shoot, many of the enemy being reported killed by the attacking infantry. He has always shown great energy and devotion to duty.’
The group is sold with two photographs taken during his later service with the South African Defence Forces.
