1st Tower Hamlet Engineer Volunteers, a very scarce suite of three badges comprising a star pattern white metal QVC shako plate bearing a circular strap inscribed, ‘Peritia Potius Quam Vi’ and enclosing a shield bearing the Royal Arms, a large and ornate pouch belt plate being a QVC over an oval Union wreath within, and pinned through, the White Tower above a tri-part scroll inscribed First Tower Hamlets, at the base of the wreath a scroll in the form of an unbuckled belt inscribed Engineer, a two part waist belt clasp bearing the White Tower centrally and unit title 1st Tower Hamlets Engineers in surround, matching bench marks 16, the overall quality would indicate use by a senior NCO; together with an officer’s two part Victorian all gilt levee style waist belt clasp, a small silver Scottish clan badge HM Birmingham 1955, and a silver plated shield shaped mount from a drum-major’s shoulder belt, this complete with ebony and plated finial drum sticks, the bottom scroll on the pouch belt plate partly detached, the left hand flag missing from the Tower on the waist belt plate and one retaining clip missing from the drum-major’s back plate (6) £200-250
