George Darel Senhouse Le Messurier was born on 19 October 1881, and was commissioned as Second Lieutenant on 28 July 1900. He was promoted Lieutenant in October 1902, and served on the North West Frontier in the operations against the Mohmands in 1908 (Medal with clasp). Promoted to Captain in July 1909, and to Major in September 1915, he served throughout the Great War in India with the 83rd Wallajahbad Light Infantry at Secunderabad. He retired on 28 July 1921.
