Estimate: £40–£60

Victoria (1837-1901), 1843, white metal, by L.C Wyon, bust left, reverse 5-line inscription, 49mm (BHM-; Eimer-). Very fine, some surface corrosion (£40-60)

This medal appears to be an apprentice’s piece, as suggested by L.C Wyon’s age of sixteen, provided by his signature, and the precise date of 24th May 1843 on the reverse. The only other example known to the cataloguer is in the current Wyon exhibition at the British Museum
