M.M. London Gazette 17 June 1919. Awarded for the attack on Le Cateau on 17-18 October 1918, when the 6th Battalion crossed the River Selle at St Benin and seized Le Cateau station. They came under heavy machine gun fire and had to withdraw. The next day they again fought in the streets of Le Cateau. Private Creighton subsequently received the ribbon for his M.M. from the hands of Lieut.-General Morland in a parade at Solre le Chateaux on 14 November 1918.
Creighton was an original member of the 12th Battalion which fought in Salonica. He was reported missing, believed wounded, in the severe fighting for ‘Machine Gun Hill’ on 13th-14th September 1916. The 12th Battalion left Salonica in June 1918, and disbanded in August 1918, the men being transferred to the 6th Battalion.
