M.I.D. London Gazette 30 January 1920: ‘For valuable services whilst a prisoner of war on internment.’ Ref Army Order 193 of 1919, to be dated 5 May 1919. Sergeant Ball was taken prisoner during the March Retreat in 1918 when the 2/7th Battalion was virtually wiped out
