Louis Wilfred Laird, Northumberland Fusiliers, attached 23rd Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers, was killed in action on 2 September 1918. The 23rd Battalion only saw action in the last few months of the war, but took part in the mopping up operations after the breakthrough in August 1918. The son of John and Catherine Laird, of Osborne Road, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, he is buried in Le Grand Beaumart British Cemetery, Steenwerck.
