Basilisk) contemporary engraved naming; China 1857-60, 1 clasp, Taku Forts 1858, unnamed as issued, together with portrait photograph and two parchment Certificates of Service which confirm alias and award of Baltic Medal, edge bruise to the first, otherwise nearly extremely fine (2)

John White was born in Arundel, Dorset on 2 April 1838 and entered the Navy in May 1852, as a Boy 2nd class aboard H.M.S. Basilisk, in which ship he served in the Baltic. He served in China as an A.B. and later Leading Seaman, aboard H.M.S. Hesper.
