Harold Arthur Shaw served in Malta as an armament officer, 1912-14. He served in France and Belgium until August 1915, in the Heavy Battery, 85th Brigade, 18th Division, and became Adjutant of 37 Brigade, R.F.A., of the Salonika Eastern Force, and served in Salonika until August 1916. He joined the Egyptian Expeditionary Force in April 1917, and served in 43 Siege Battery on the Salonika front, subsequently becoming Battery Commander of 422 Siege Battery, attached 96 Heavy Artillery Brigade, until October 1918.
