Blundell’s School, Tiverton, Devon, Keats Prize, 1788, in silver, after L. Pingo, 40mm, hallmarked WJD, Birmingham, 1913 (E. 85; Grimshaw 23; cf. Baldwin FPL 1995, no.68); Academy of Ancient Music, 1750, copper medal by R. Yeo, 49mm (M.I. 657/362; E. 628); Death of Sir Thomas Lawrence, 1830, copper medal by S. Clint, 42mm (BHM 1449; E. 1215); other prize medals for the arts and sciences, etc, all in base metal (6, one gilt) [9]. First brilliant and in case of issue by Wm. Bruford, Exeter; second fair, third fine, others mostly very fine (£30-50)

The first medal is accompanied by a descriptive leaflet quoting an extract from Mr Benjamin Incledon’s Register, dated 1792, which gives details of the circumstances surrounding the original proposal for a medal in 1776 and the eventual procuration of medals “sometime in the year 1788.”
