Crimea 1854-55, 2 clasps, Balaklava, Sebastopol (Pte. Wm. Hammond, R.N.B. Dgs.) contemporary engraved naming, with silver ribbon brooch buckle, very fine

Private William Hammond, born in Edinburgh and a groom by trade, enlisted into the Scots Greys in August 1849, aged 18 years, for a bounty of five pounds, fifteen shillings and sixpence. He was severely wounded in the face at Balaklava and consequently discharged in February 1855. He was residing at Chelsea Hospital as a pensioner in 1899.
